The grove was presented in the 17th century by the Ottoman sultan IV. Murad to the Iranian Emir Güne Han. The area, previously referred to as Feridun Bahçeleri, thereafter began to be called Emirgân Korusu. Over the centuries, it changed hands many times, and in the 19th century it was given by the Ottoman Sultan Abdülaziz to the Egyptian Khedive İsmail Paşa. Between 1871-1878, 3 pavilions were commissioned within the grove. These pavilions, which have survived to the present day, are called Sarı Köşk, Pembe Köşk and Beyaz Köşk. In 1940, through the initiative of the then Istanbul mayor Lütfi Kırdar, it was expropriated, arranged as a park and opened to the public.
