Bursa'da Müze kurulması amacıyla eserler ilk kez 1904’den 1972’ye kadar Bursa Erkek Lisesi’nde toplanmıştır. 1972 yılında Reşat Oyal Kültür Parkı içerisinde yeni yapılan binaya taşınmıştır. Bithynia ve Mysia bölgelerinde bulunan eserlerin sergilendiği müzede, M.Ö. 3 bin yılından Bizans Dönemi sonlarına ait eserler yer almaktadır. Müzede 25 bin eser yer almaktadır, 2 bin kadarı sergilenmektedir.
Müzede sergilenen eserler arasında; Yortan kültürüne ait pişmiş toprak mezar buluntuları, Antandros Nekropol’ünden figürinler, kap kacak ve süs eşyaları, Karacabey’in Şükraniye Köyü’nde bulunmuş dünyadaki üç örnekten biri olan Greko-Pers mezar steli, Roma Dönemi'ne ait taş eserler, Zeus ve Herakles tasvirleri, Kybele heykelleri, Athena ve Apollon’un bronz büstleri, değişik formdaki keramik kaplar bulunmaktadır. Bizans Dönemi'ne ait gümüş, bronz ve pişmiş toprak eserler ile Arkaik, Klasik, Helenistik, Roma ve Bizans dönemlerine ait altın, gümüş ve bronz sikkelerin yer aldığı Bursa Arkeoloji Müzesi’nin bahçesinde de zengin bir stel koleksiyonu sergilenmektedir. Bölgede bulunan, pişmiş toprak kaplar, sikkeler, taş eserler ve cam eserler bir arada teşhir için kullanılan dört salonda sergilenmektedir.
