It was commissioned during the time of Yıldırım Bayezid by Ali Paşa, the son of Çandarlı Halil Hayreddin Paşa and the vizier of Yıldırım Bayezid. As a result of the earthquake that occurred in 1854, the domes and side wings, which were heavily damaged, collapsed. It took its present form with the repairs and restorations carried out after the earthquake.
