It takes its name from the Konca Region where it was found. It dominates both the land and the sea. It is a tomb structure built during the Roman period in the II century AD. It is referred to in the region as the “Roman Tomb.” The tomb was built in a form similar to other sarcophagi encountered in the Bithynia region. The traveler Charles de Peyssonel, who passed through here in 1745, states that the name of the place where the sarcophagus is located was ‘Kongessi’ (Konca).”
