Fenerbahçe Sports Club, the main pillar of Turkish sport, has possessed very valuable awards and cups in its work full of 100 years of success in exactly 35 branches. Fenerbahçe won its first cup on 5 June 1910 by defeating Istanbul’s famous Greek club Sturugglers 3 – 1. In 1913, when the number of cups and statues in the clubhouse at the mouth of Altıyol reached 10, a small display case was purchased for them. In 1914, when the club moved to the two-storey wooden clubhouse in Kuşdili, a room on the second floor was set aside for the museum, which was gradually taking on a rich identity. New display cases were made to place the awards won. In the Kuşdili Clubhouse, where the club stayed until the fire in 1932, it became clear after a while that this small room set aside for the awards (cups) was no longer sufficient and did not meet the need. Some of the cups, shields and vases began to be placed in the other rooms and in the large hall downstairs.
The number of cups of Fenerbahçe Sports Club had exceeded 150 at the beginning of the summer of 1932. However, these cups, shields etc. awards, which were proof of the club’s first 25 years of activities, burned together with the club building in the fire that broke out on the night of 5/6 June 1932. The reset Fenerbahçe Museum was reborn immediately after the fire. After 1932, with the diversification of branches of activity, countless cups, shields and plaques won every year have continued to the present day. After the opening of the social facilities at Fenerbahçe Cape, the cups, shields and plaques won over many years were exhibited in the display cases there.
During the rebuilding of Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, the board of directors under the presidency of Aziz Yıldırım decided to establish a modern museum inside the stadium above European standards. This decision was implemented in a short time. Under the leadership of Mr. Sertaç Kayserilioğlu, Chairman of the Fenerbahçe Sports Club Museum History and Archive Board, the official opening of the museum was held on 19 October 2005 after approximately one year of intensive work.
