Sultan Camii Klasik Osmanlı Külliye Mimarisinin kültür ve sosyal yaşamın görkemli bir örneği olan ve çok geniş bir alana yayılan cami, imaret, medrese, hamam, hankah ve sıbyan mektebinden oluşan bu külliye, Kanuni Sultan Süleyman’ın annesi Ayşe Hafsa Sultan tarafından Hicri 929, Miadi 1522’ de yaptırılmıştır. Cami ve ona bağlı binaların bazıları 1522’de, hamam 1538’de, darüşşifa ise 1539’da tamamlanmıştır. Bugün Sultan Caminin çevre düzenlemesi Manisa Belediyesince yapılmış olup her yıl düzenlenen Mesir Şenliklerine ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. Cami, yerli ve yabancı turistlerce de ziyaret edilmektedir. Sultan Camii Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü tarafından 2007 yılında başlayan restorasyon çalışmaları 21 Mart 2008 cuma günü 468.
