The külliye, commissioned in the name of Murat III between 1583-1592, consists of a mosque, madrasa, soup kitchen and shops. The construction of the külliye, whose project belongs to Mimar Sinan, was started by Mimar Mahmut Ağa and, upon his death, completed by Mimar Mehmet Ağa. The madrasa was built in keeping with the classical Ottoman madrasa plan and form.
