Sultan III. Murat tarafından 1583-1588 yallarında yaptırılan Muradiye Külliyesi’nin Medrese yapısı müzeye dönüştürülerek 29 Ekim 1937 tarihinde Manisa Müzesi olarak ziyarete açılmıştır. Zamanla müzeye gelen eserlerin sayısının artmasıyla medrese yetersiz kalmış ve 1972 yılında külliyenin imarethane yapısı da müzeye dahil edilmiştir. Şuan inşaatı devam eden yeni müze binasına taşınma çalışmaları kapsamında eser paketleme işi devam etmekte olup Bakanlık Oluru ile ziyarete kapalıdır. Yakın gelecekte müze yeni binasında ziyaretçilerini ağırlayacaktır.
