Sultan Orhan, the son of Osmangazi and the second sultan of the Ottoman state, lived between 1281-1362. During his lifetime, he took Bursa and its surroundings from the Byzantines, established state institutions, and minted the first Ottoman coin. Orhangazi Türbesi was built in Tophane Park in the Hisar district on part of the Sainte Elie monastery, which had been used as the city's metropolitan monastery before the conquest of Bursa. The tomb, located directly opposite Osmangazi Türbesi, was built on the floor mosaics of the Sainte Elie Monastery.
