It was built between 1396-1400 during the time of Yıldırım Beyazıt in a large area where Orhan Gazi Park is located. It is the first of the monumental multi-domed structures among Ottoman mosques. Ulu Camii has 20 domes resting on twelve large four-cornered piers. The construction of Ulu Camii began after Yıldırım Beyazıd’s 1396 Niğbolu victory.
