It was established on 7 February 1968 within the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration in order to exhibit and store the specimens collected during the institution’s field studies. The museum continues to serve in its new building constructed within the campus. Numerous fossils, rocks, minerals and ore samples collected from various parts of Turkey and the world, telling the story of natural history, are exhibited in the museum.
