1929 yılında, Atatürk'ün emriyle Prof. S. Hakkı ELDEM tarafından 38 günde yapılmıştır. İki katlı tamamen ahşaptır. 4 kabul salonu ve 11 odası bulunmaktadır. Eşyaları İstanbul'daki çeşitli saraylardan getirilmiştir. İlk konuğu İran Kralı Rıza Pehlevi'dir. Cumhuriyetin ilk yıllarında hükümetin yaz dönemi çalışmalarını yaptığı yer halini almıştır. Bir çok önemli karar burada alınmıştır. Serbest Fırkanın kurulması, Yerli Malı Haftası gibi... 1984 yılına kadar bu şekilde hizmet vermiştir.Ayrıca Atatürk Köşkü Atatürk'ün, Dolmabahçe Sarayında vefatından önce son günlerini geçirdiği yer olması yönünden de önemlidir. 1984 yılında yapılan restorasyondan sonra müze olarak hizmete açılmış ve günümüzde de müze olarak hizmet vermektedir.
