This mosque, located in the bazaar on Türbe caddesi, is an important work produced in the baroque style of late Ottoman architecture. The mosque was first commissioned by Damat Mustafa Paşa, accountant of the Ottoman Sultan IV. Sultan Mehmed Han, in 1671-1676. The mosque, which was completely destroyed as a result of a fire in 1876, was rebuilt in 1897 with foundation revenues and the contributions of Sultan Abdülaziz, and was given the name Aziziye Camii in dedication to Sultan Abdülaziz.
