Sirçali Medrese

Sırçalı Medrese was commissioned in 1242 by Bedreddin Muslih for the teaching of fiqh. Built in the “Open Courtyard Madrasa” type, the structure has one domed room to the right and one to the left of the main iwan. These are the classical winter classrooms. The main iwan, the most ornate and impressive part of the structure, is today in quite sound condition. However, the hexagonal tiles below the iwan arch down to the ground and the tiles in the upper part of the iwan have largely fallen off and deteriorated.
