It was commissioned together with Hamidiye Camii by Sultan 2.Abdülhamit in 1905. The lower and upper floor plans of the two-storey structure, built of red cut stone, are of the same form. The building, which has an Ottoman coat of arms made of marble above the entrance door, was restored in 2008 and put into service as the District library.
