Samsun İlkadım İlçesi'nin 3 kilometre güneydoğusunda bulunan 15 metre yüksekliğindeki höyükte, Kalkolitik, Eski Tunç ve Hitit çağlarına ilişkin üç kültür katı vardır. Höyüğün tepesindeki en son yerleşme Eski Tunç Çağı’na aittir. Höyüğün eteklerinde Hitit yerleşmesine rastlanmıştır. Birinci kültür katında Kalkolitik döneme tarihlenen yapı kalıntıları, el yapımı seramik parçaları, pişmiş toprak ağırlıklar, çakmaktaşı bıçak vs. bulunmuştur. Höyüğün tepesinde ve eteklerindeki İkinci kültür katı Eski Tunç Çağı’na tarihlenmektedir. Yangınla sona eren bu katta dörtgen planlı ev ve ocak, koyu gri renkli, içi kırmızı ya da kahverengi kaplar, kemik eşyalar, pişmiş toprak ağırşaklar bulunmuştur. Höyüğün tepesi dışında eteklerinde Hitit Dönemi'ne tarihlenen üçüncü kültür katında üç yapı katı saptanmıştır. Birinci yapı katında taş temelli kerpiçten evler (MÖ 1500-1200), ikinci yapı katında taş temel kalıntıları (MÖ1500), üçüncü yapı katında çoğu boya astarlı, çarkta yapılmış ve iyi fırınlanmış seramik buluntuları, pişmiş toprak mühürler, hayvan heykelcikleri, kemik iğneler (MÖ1500’den önce) ele geçirilmiştir.
