The height of this statue, which is the Onur Anıtı of Samsun, is 4.75 meters without its pedestal and 8.85 meters with its pedestal. On a large pedestal, Atatürk is seen in all his majesty on a rearing horse. His gaze, fixed proudly toward the west and into the far distance, is full of determination. An upright body sits on the rearing horse. This posture expresses fearlessness. A hard steel arm has reached for the sword. On the sides of the pedestal there are two reliefs, and on the other sides there are inscriptions. In one of the reliefs, people carrying bullets and ammunition are seen beside a boat at the pier. The presence of a gun carriage behind them shows that it depicts a moment of war. In the middle of the other relief, Atatürk stands upright with all his features, as a symbol of a great victory. His head is turned toward the people and he is hand in hand with the people. He is surrounded by the elderly, the villagers, and the townspeople of the Turkish Nation.

The inscriptions on the pedestal of the statue are as follows: a) To start the National Struggle in the homeland, Gazi landed in Samsun on 19 May 1919. b) This statue was erected by the people of Samsun Province on 29 October 1931.
