Mustafa Kemal'in Samsun'a ilk gelişinde kaldığı Mantıka Palas adlı otelin restore edilmesi ile 1940 yılında ziyarete açılmıştır. Müze içerisi Atatürk'ün çalışma odası, yatak odası ve toplantı salonları, derlenebilen eşyasıyla döşenmiştir. Müzenin, Kongre Salonu adı verilen büyük salonunda Bandırma Vapuru'nun bir maketi, Atatürk'le ilgili fotoğraflar ve belgeler yer alır. Müzede yer alan diğer önemli millî eserler arasında Onuncu Yıl Nutku'nun aslı, Nutuk'un Osmanlıca aslının örneği ve ilk ziyaretinde Atatürk'ün yanında bulundurduğu gezi çantası yer almaktadır.
