Bugünkü Çark Suyu üzerine 1581-1585 tarihleri arasında Ada Karyesinin ihtiyacına yönelik olarak bir değirmen yapılır. Yaklaşık 250 yıla yakın hizmet veren bu değirmen yerine, 1734 yılında hayırsever Devoğlu Mustafa tarafından İlkel de olsa bir “dönme dolap”/“çark” yapılarak ve arklar-kanallar açılarak, Çark suyu Orta Camii çeşmesine ve Adapazarı’na içme suyu olarak taşınır.
