1993 yılında bir temel kazısıyla açığa çıkan Antik Cadde, Tarsus'un yaklaşık iki bin yıl önceki ihtişamından büyük ve sağlam bir kesit ortaya koymaktadır. Antik Çağ içerisinde uzun dönem hizmet verdiği anlaşılan bu yolu dönemin birçok ünlü isminin kullanmış olması ilginçtir. Bunların arasında St. Paul, Cicero, Julius Casear(Augustus), Athenedoros, Nestor, Kleopatra, M. Antonius ve Hadrian bunlar arasında en ünlülerdir.Bugün modern Tarsus'un tam ortasında kalan Antik Cadde, poligonal teknikte yerleştirilen bazalt taşlarıyla 6.5 m. genişliğindedir ve günümüzde 60 m.lik bir kısmı ortaya çıkarılabilmiştir. Ayrıca caddenin hemen doğusunda sütunlu bir platform, batı yanındaysa caddeden sonraki bir döneme ait Roma evi yer almaktadır. Mozaik avlulu bu ev olasılıkla M.S. IV ya da V. yüzyılı işaret ederken, caddenin uzun süre kullanım gördüğünü de böylelikle belgelemektedir.
