Tamzara Weaving, which began to be woven from the 18th century onwards and was sent as far as the Mediterranean, Egypt and Syria via caravan routes, and which was produced through the establishment of a cooperative by a decree signed by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1937, was registered with a geographical indication in 2019. Tamzara Weaving is woven by hand on weaving looms using cotton thread. In the past, it was used in products such as tablecloths, peştamal, headscarves, bath wraps, aprons, handkerchiefs and sheets. Today, dresses, shirts, ties, shawls, scarves, tablecloths, curtains and souvenir textile products are produced from Tamzara weaving.
Tamzara Neighborhood, flourishing amid the continental climate in Şebinkarahisar District, has begun to acquire a different appearance following the restoration of its historic houses and workplaces.
Tamzara, whose name is also frequently mentioned in folk songs, has a quality and beauty that will draw people away from city life with the warmth of its people and their smiling conversations, its coffeehouses where women and men spend time together, its air and cultural texture, and its ecological market featuring organically produced and one hundred percent local products by the producers in the neighborhood.
