Sivrihisar kılıçla fethedildiğinden ve kılıca dayanılarak hutbe okunan ilk mescit olmasından dolayı bu adı aldığı söylenir. Bir başka rivayete göre Oğuz boylarının Kılıç aşiretinden adını alır. Tümüyle ahşaptan yapılan mescidi yıkılmış ve günümüze yalnızca minare kalabilmiştir.
