Hierapolis Antik Kenti'nin doğu kısmında Aziz Phılıppus Kapısı'ndan hemen sonra büyük boyutlara sahip köprü yer alır. Büyük boyutlu dikdörtgen traverten bloklardan meydana gelen bu büyük yapının (genişliği 12 metreyi bulmakta) yalnızca güney sırt kısmı korunagelen yapı taş ile döşenmiş şehir merkezinden gelen yolun devamında bulunmaktadır. Köprüyü geçtikten sonra hakim tepe üzerinde yer alan Aziz Phılıppus Martyrıonu'na ulaşılmaktadır. Köprünün kuzey sırtı kenarında sekizgen planlı bir başka yapı yer almaktadır (belki vaftizhane) bu yapının hemen yanından yukarı doğru çıkan basamaklar yer almaktadır. Basamaklar yüksek tepe üzerinde yer alan Aziz Phılıppus'un defnedildiği alan ile son bulmaktadır. Bu alan Bizans öncesi dönemde Küçük Asya'nın en önemli Hac ziyaret alanlarındandır. İtalyan arkeoloji heyetinin amaçlarından birisi köprünün yeniden ayağa kaldırma çalışması oluşturmakta, bu sayede kentten başlayıp Martyrıona ulaşan ayin yoluna işlevsellik kazandırılacaktır.
