The inscription above the main entrance gate records that Yukarı Taşhan was commissioned by Serbevvab Hacı Abdullah Ağa in H. 1219 (M. 1804). It is a 2-storey, open-courtyard, porticoed inn built of cut stone. The entrance gate on the west, covered with a barrel vault, projects outward from the main walls and is in the form of a large iwan. The main entrance gate has a round arch and opens into the entrance iwan. In the entrance iwan, there is one pointed-arched niche on the north and south walls, the staircase leading to the 2nd floor, and a door on the right. On the south of the entrance façade there are 2 rectangular windows, 3 above the gate, and 1 on the north. On the south there are also two shops consisting of arched units. After this entrance façade, the thick square piers surrounding the chamfered-corner square courtyard and the round-arched porticoes are covered with cross vaults. On the ground floor there are 5 cells along the sides and one in each corner. The cells are covered with mirror vaults, and each contains two small niches.
