Cephanelik Trabzon yapıları içinde en çok dikkati çeken ve tartışılan bir yapıdır. Yapının Yıldız Sarayı albümlerindeki resminin altında H.1305 yılında yaptırıldığı yazılıdır. Kapısı üzerindeki II. Abdülhamit'in tuğrası ve kitabe de bunu doğrular. Cephaneliğin 1887 tarihinde yaptırıldığı kesin olarak anlaşılmaktadır. Yaklaşık 25-40 metre çapında iç içe dairevi iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. İç bölüm dört, dış bölüm ise üç katlıdır. İç ve dış yapılarda oval kemerli üçer adet pencere bulunmaktadır. Yüksek bir koruma duvarı içine alınmış olup, batı yakınında ise karakol hanesi vardı. 1916-1918 Rus işgali sırasında mühimmat deposu olarak kullanılmış ve 9 Temmuz 1919'da bir patlamayla örtüsü yıkılmıştır.
