Gök Medrese, Türk mimarisinin ve süsleme sanatının birlikte görülebildiği en önemli yapılardandır. Yapının çeşitli bölümlerindeki yazıtlardan IV. Kılıçaraslan'ın oğlu III. Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev döneminde Vezir Sahip Ata Fahreddin Ali tarafından, 1271 yılında yaptırıldığı anlaşılmaktadır.

Gök Medrese'nin, mermer taş kapısı, ışık-gölge oyununu yaşatacak denli zengin bir görünüme sahiptir. Yapı, açık avlulu, dört eyvanlı, iki katlı plan özelliğine sahiptir. Yapıldığı tarihten itibaren dini ilimlerin tahsil edildiği medrese olarak hizmet verdiği bilinen bina 1926 yılında müzeye dönüştürülmüştür.
