II. İzzeddin Keykavus devrinde Emir Celâleddin Karatay tarafından,1251 yılında yaptırılmıştır. Mimarı bilinmemektedir. Osmanlılar devrinde de kullanılan medrese 19. yüzyılın sonlarında terk edilmiştir. Selçuklu devri çini işçiliğinde önemli yeri bulunan Karatay Medresesi, 1955 yılında “Çini Eserler Müzesi” olarak ziyarete açılmıştır.
