Redif Dairesi, İzmit Mutasarrıfı Hasan Pasa tarafından 1863 yılında yaptırılmıştır. İkinci Ampir üslubunda, yarı kagir kışla tipi bir yapıdır. İzmit'in son dönem Osmanlı'da redif subayları için yapılmış askeri yapılarından olan Redif Dairesinin tavan kalem işi benzemeleri önemlidir. Redif Dairesi 1999 depremine kadar askeri mahkeme binası olarak kullanılmıştır. Milli Savunma Bakanlığının kullanımında olan bu yapı 1999 depreminde hasar görmüştür. Kocaeli İli İl Özel İdaresi tarafından rölöve restorasyon projeleri hazırlatılan bina onarım gördükten sonra müze olarak ziyarete açılmıştır.
