Miladi 1524 (Hicri 931) yılında Defterdar Abdüsselam tarafından Mimar Sinan'a yaptırılmıştır. Miladi 1872 (Hicri 1239) yılında onarım görmüştür. Mimar Sinan'in ilk yapıtlarından olmasının yanı sıra Caminin dış çevre duvarları ile minaresi ilk kurulduğu dönemin özelliğini taşımaktadır. Zamanında kubbeli olarak yapılmış fakat 1776 yılındaki depremde yıkılınca 1872 yılında Altıncıoğlu Hatice hanim tarafından çatılı olarak yaptırılmıştır. Bunu belirten bir kitabe caminin giriş kapısı üzerindedir.
