Kızılırmak üzerinde kurulu olan köprü 1248 yılında Anadolu Selçukluları tarafından yaptırılmıştır. Tarihi ipekyolu güzergahında bulunmaktadır.Kırşehir ile Konya’yı birbirine bağlamak için yapılan köprü Türk mimarisinin önemli eserlerindendir. Kesikköprü 400 metre uzunluğunda, 6 metre genişliğinde, 13 gözlü olup gözler sivri kemerlidir. Köprü 1616,1849,1925 ve 2004 yıllarında da onarım görmüştür.
