The building was constructed by Mimar Kemalettin between 1915-1916 under the name Turan Numune Mektebi. Photographs documenting the birth of the Republic of Turkey are exhibited, from the Çanakkale Battles, the Congresses, the Grand National Assembly, the İnönü Battles, the Sakarya Battle, the Great Offensive, and the first years of the Republic. Portraits of Atatürk from various periods, and model ships used in the Turkish navy during the First World War, the War of Independence, and the Republican period are exhibited. On the first floor of the museum, there are belongings and works of Atatürk, local newspapers from 1925-1980, and a library.
