Hafız Hasan Şen Efendi 1894 yılında doğmuştur. Çilimli Fatih Medresesi’nde yapılan törenle hafızlık diplomasını almıştır. Mısır ve İstanbul tariklerini öğrenip 16 Temmuz 1943’de icazetname almıştır. 1945-1951 yıllarında fahri olarak, 1952 yılında asaleten Düzce Büyük Camii’ne tayin edilmiştir. 1945 yılı başlarında Merkez Kuran Kursu öğreticiliğini önce fahri olarak, 1946 yılında ise asaleten bu görevi yürütmüştür. Hafız Hasan Şen Efendi, 1982 yılında Kurban Bayramının birinci günü Düzce’de Kültür Mahallesindeki evinde vefat etmiştir. Kabri şuan, Düzce Merkez Azmimilli Mahallesinde bulunan Şehir Mezarlığı'ndadır.
