Gerede Aşağı Tekke Camii Ve Türbesi

In Bolu Province, Gerede District, Seviller Neighborhood, within the mosque courtyard, Aşağı Tekke Camii and Tomb and a small hazire are located. The construction date of Aşağı Tekke Camii is not known exactly. The mosque, which was completely destroyed in the 1944 earthquake, was rebuilt with local means and opened for worship in 1957. The rectangular-planned mosque is covered with a dome. The railings of the women’s gallery on its north side feature wooden workmanship. There are arched windows on the walls of the mosque and on the drum of the dome. On its northeast side, there is a minaret with a cylindrical body. Aşağı Tekke Tomb was commissioned by Gazi Ahmet Muhtar Paşa over the grave of Geredeli Şeyh Hacı Halil Efendi, who died in 1843 and was the founder of the Haliliyye branch of the Şabaniyye order. The tomb, built of rubble stone, has an octagonal body and is covered externally with an octagonal sheet-metal-clad cone. On its east side, there is a rectangular entrance space. It has an arched door with a stone jamb featuring relief vegetal decorations. Inside the rectangular cartouches above the arched windows on both sides of the entrance, painted floral bouquets, cypress and tree pictures were made. Above the entrance door of the tomb, there is an Ottoman Turkish inscription dated Hijri 1259 (Gregorian 1844), written in Talik script.

Its inscription: Delil-i rah-ı Hüda kutb-i arifin idi hem Fiyuzu tuttu inamı Halil Efendi’nin Teceddüd etdi yüzünden tarik-i Şa’bani Gönüller oldu bekamı Halil Efendi’nin Bu irtihaline tarihi tamdır irfan Cinana döndü makamı Halil Efendi’nin 1259 (Muhammed Rıfat)
