Şehrin kuzey-batısında, yükseliş mahallesindeki bir yamaçta bulunan caminin, kitabesine göre Haydar Ağa adlı biri tarafından H.1138 (M.1725) tarihinde yenilendiği belirtilmektedir. Bitlis’in tipik kızıl kahverengi taşıyla, muntazam yontulmuş bloklardan inşa edilmiş, doğu-batı doğrultusunda uzanan dikdörtgen bir kütle meydana getirir. İki katlı olup üst kat cami olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bodrum katı ise mezarlık ve türbe odasından ibaret olup, burada Sultan Şeyh Hasan Hazretleri yatmaktadır.
Eskiden kilise olduğu anlaşılan bu yapı, önce camiye çevrilmiş, sonra herhangi bir sebeple tahribe uğramış, zemin dolmuş, üste yeni bir kat şekli verilmiş ve bugünkü mescit meydana gelmiştir.
