Hükümet Konağı kentin o zamanki Valisi Halil Rıfat Paşa tarafından 1884 yılında yaptırılmıştır. Binanın ilk iki katı kesme taş, üçüncü katı ise 1913 yılında ahşap olarak inşa edilmiştir. Geçirdiği bir yangın sonucunda üçüncü katı tümüyle yanmış, birinci ve ikinci katın yalnızca duvarları kalmıştı. 2005 yılı sonunda yeniden eski görünümüne ve işlevine kavuşmuştur.
