Saint Barbara Chapel, located in Göreme Open Air Museum, dates to the second half of the 11th century. It is located behind the rock block where Elmalı Kilise is situated.

The west, north and south cross arms of the cross-planned chapel with two columns are barrel-vaulted. The center of the chapel, the east cross arm and the two corner spaces to the east are domed. It has one main apse and two side apses. The motifs depicted on the church walls were drawn directly onto the rock with red paint. There are rich geometric motifs, mythological animals and military symbols on the walls and dome. There are also motifs on the walls that give the impression of stone. In the main apse there is the Pantokrator Jesus Scene, in the north cross arm depictions of Saint George and Saint Theodore fighting a dragon on horseback, and in the west cross arm a depiction of Saint Barbara.
