The Kybele Rock Relief, depicted seated on a flat rock in the Akpınar recreation area, is located here. This figure carved into the rock is 8x10 meters high. Although some parts have deteriorated due to weather conditions, it is still possible today to make out that she grasps her chest with both hands and wears a cylindrical headdress. On the right side of the relief, traces of four Hittite hieroglyphs can barely be seen. The Kybele Rock Relief is dated to the second half of the 13th century B.C. Kybele is the mother goddess worshipped throughout the entire Anatolian peninsula. (Magna Mater). It is stated that the mother goddess Kybele formed a cult in Magnesia under the name “Sipylene.” Kybele was also depicted on Magnesia coins.
