In Talas, first the American Girls’ School was opened in 1871 and then the American Boys’ School in 1882. In 1871, the girls’ school was moved to the building known as Paşa Konağı. Between 1909-1911, the boys’ college building was constructed. Both continued their activities until 1914. With permission obtained from the Republican government in 1928, the boys’ school began providing educational services and continued its educational activities until 1967. During World War I and afterwards, the girls’ school building was converted into a hospital and continued its operations until 1972. Today, the American Hospital building, dormitories, and the director’s and teachers’ lodgings are used as Erciyes University Social Facilities.
