It is one of our riches of history and culture that carries the beauties of the past to the present with its architecture, decorations and traditions. The architecture defined under Kayseri traditional architecture generally consists of 2 or 3-storey buildings made of stone and wood, with gardens and courtyards, intertwined with nature, and mostly arranged adjacently on both sides of the street. Kayseri houses were conceived and built according to climatic conditions, protected against the cold and in a way suitable for vineyard life. The streets are narrow and were made of cinğitaş (kartaş) or soft stone (yonutaşı), suitable for carving, found in great quantities at a distance of 10 to 30 kilometres towards the eastern side of the city. Although large mansions and pavilions were built, the house of an ordinary family, which was in the majority, consists of a tokana, sofa, pantry, sitting room, stable and courtyard. You can come across old Kayseri houses, which inspire admiration with their original architecture and elegant decorations, in various parts of the city and feel as if you are living a few centuries ago.
