Opened on 8 June 2005, Pera Müzesi is a private museum established by the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation with the aim of providing qualified and large-scale culture and art services. It operates in its building, which was constructed as a contemporary and well-equipped museum by preserving the facade of the historic Bristol Hotel in Tepebaşı within the framework of the project prepared by restoration architect Sinan Genim in the 2003-2005 period. Pera Müzesi shares with the public the “Orientalist Painting”, “Anatolian Weights and Measures” and “Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics” collections belonging to the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation, and the values represented by these collections, through exhibitions, publishing products, verbal events, educational activities and scientific studies, and aims to pass them on to future generations.
Producing joint art projects with the world’s leading museums, collections and foundations such as Tate Britain, Victoria and Albert Museum, St. Petersburg Russian State Museum, JP Morgan Chase Collection, New York School of Visual Arts, and Maeght Foundation, Pera Müzesi has brought together art lovers in our country with the works of the world’s master artists such as “Jean Dubuffet”, “Henri Cartier-Bresson”, “Rembrandt”, “Niko Pirosmani”, “Josef Koudelka” “Joan Miró”, “Akira Kurosawa”, “Marc Chagall”, “Pablo Picasso”, “Fernando Botero”, “Frida Kahlo”, “Diego Rivera”, and “Goya” through the temporary exhibitions it has organized. Since its opening, Pera Müzesi, which also organizes exhibitions supporting young artists every year by cooperating with national and international educational and art institutions, supports all its exhibitions with books, verbal events and children's education programs. Pera Film, which draws attention with its seasonal programs and events, also organizes comprehensive screenings for visitors and cinema enthusiasts, ranging from classics to independent films, animation and documentaries, sometimes in parallel with exhibitions.
