Tophane Saat Kulesi

It is a four-storey structure that narrows gradually upwards, together with the clock section. All four facades were designed equally to one another. Only on the facade facing the sea is there a tughra belonging to Abdülmecit above the door. On both sides of the high, round-arched door on each facade, two Doric columns were placed independently of the facade at the points corresponding to the corners. Meanwhile, spherical stones are located in front of the doors.

Between the ground floor and the first floor there is a triglyph-metope band. On the upper floor, pilasters in the Ionic order have replaced the Doric columns. Although the opening on the first floor is rectangular this time, above it there is a low arch, carried by consoles and with an empty tympanum, on a straight lintel.

In the composition on the second floor, an opening with a semicircular arch is again seen in the middle. At the corners, vegetal motifs were framed and used. A thin cornice with consoles separates this floor from the floor where the clocks are. On the top floor, there are clocks placed within garlands and curved supports at the corners. In addition, spherical stones were placed at the corners, in smaller sizes than those on the ground floor.
