Tiralizade Hasan Bey Konağı

Located in Piraziz, Giresun, Tiralizade Hasan Bey Konağı is a Late Ottoman period structure dated to 1906-1908. Bearing the characteristics of the Turkish civil architecture of the period, the mansion is one of the prominent examples in the region with its plan scheme and original facade arrangement featuring baroque and rococo style decorations.

The mansion was built of cut stone with masonry technique as two storeys over a basement. The entrance of the mansion is reached by a double-flight staircase dominated by C-shaped baroque-style decorations. The mansion’s main entrance door, with side windows, stone jambs, and two leaves, is located exactly in the middle of the facade. The door leaves are made of iron and feature baroque-style motifs on their panels. Above the entrance there is a balcony carried by two fluted columns. With the entrance door seen in the facade arrangement, the balcony columns and railings, corner and floor mouldings, door and window jambs, broken pediments of the windows, and the eaves, it is the most ostentatious residential example in Giresun with its baroque and rococo style decorations. Rococo style dominates the furniture of the mansion, which contains Naim Tirali’s personal belongings and a rich library.

Located within a large garden surrounded by a stone wall in Eren Mahallesi of Piraziz İlçesi, the mansion was registered by the Trabzon Kültür Varlıklarını Koruma Bölge Kurulu Müdürlüğü with decision no. 857 dated 11.10.1990 and is still used by members of the same family.
