This zaviye in Harput, in the neighborhood formerly known as Cami-i Kebir Mahallesi, is today popularly known as “Mansur Baba Tomb.” There is an extant waqf deed belonging to the 16th century, and in those dates its annual income was 8980 akçe. According to tradition, following a dream seen by a woman named Şahende, an excavation carried out in the presence of Beyzade efendi, one of Harput’s spiritual elders, revealed a large sarcophagus, and it was seen that inside there were the graves of one man, one woman, and two children.” When the man’s grave was opened, an uncorrupted body was encountered, and the situation was reported by telegram to the Meşihat (Şeyhülislamlık), and upon the reply received, a tomb was built and, “with reference to the gravestone,” the tomb was given the name Mansur Baba. According to some sources, it is stated that the graves in the tomb may belong to the Artuklu Dynasty. Restored and opened to visitors again, the Mansur Baba tomb has an octagonal plan, and its interior preserves its original form. The upper covering system was built later. It is a monumental two-story structure.
