It was commissioned in 1486 by Mehmet Paşa, the tutor of Şehzade Ahmet, the son of Bayezid II. The mosque’s door, one of the finest examples of wood carving, is exhibited in Amasya Museum. Similarly, the mosque’s marble minbar, decorated with curling branch and leaf motifs, is one of the rare examples of Turkish marble workmanship.
