Çilehane Camii
Çilehane Camii was commissioned in 1413 by Yakup Paşa, one of the commanders of Çelebi Mehmet. The building, which is used as a mosque today, is essentially a Halveti Tekke. It consists of a tekke, a mescid and çilehane cells. On the west side of the building’s west entrance, there is a structure thought to have probably been a tomb. The exterior walls of the building were built of rubble stone with the spaces filled with red mortar. This stone masonry is reinforced horizontally by double rows of brick courses.

Çilehane Camii was built in 1413 by Yakup Paşa, one of Çelebi Mehmet’s commanders. The structure, which is used as a mosque today, is essentially a Halveti Tekke. The tekke consists of a masjid and çilehane cells. On the west side of the building’s west entrance, there is a structure thought to have probably been a tomb. The building’s main walls were built of rubble stone with the spaces filled with red mortar. This stone masonry is reinforced by horizontal double rows of brick courses. The mosque is entered through a large iwaned door made of cut stone. The door has a pointed arch. The windows that illuminate the interior have marble frames and brick arches. Upon entering the interior through the west door, on the right are the masjid and the halvet (çile) rooms reached by small passages; on the left are the tomb and the tekke. The mosque and the tekke are each covered by a large dome. Çilehane, which suffered great damage in the 1939 earthquake, was repaired in 1964 by the General Directorate of Foundations.
