Kapi Ağası Medresesi, or by its other name Büyük Ağa Medresesi, was commissioned in 1488 by Sultan II. Bayezid's Kapı Ağası Hüseyin Ağa. Its plan differs from the classical Ottoman madrasa form. In particular, the octagonal plan scheme seen in Seljuk tomb monuments was applied in this madrasa for the first time. The madrasa is entered through the large arched gate on its north-west side.
