It was commissioned between 1481-1486 by Amasya Governor Şehzade Ahmet in the name of his father Sultan II. Bayezid. The architect of the structure, which was built as a külliye consisting of a mosque, madrasa, imaret and fountain, is Şemseddin Ahmet. The tomb belonging to Şehzade Osman, the son of Şehzade Ahmet who died at a young age, located at the southeast corner of the mosque, was added to the structure later.
