The museum building, opened on 1 September 1978, is an Ottoman-period structure and is the place where the Greek Commander-in-Chief Trikopis was captured after the War of Independence. Although Commander-in-Chief Trikopis was taken prisoner, he was received by Atatürk with Turkish hospitality. On the ground floor of the two-storey wooden building, local ethnographic materials, old weapons, clothes, jewelry and other works are exhibited. The entire upper floor has been arranged as the Atatürk Museum.
