Tekirdağ Arkeoloji ve Etnografya Müzesi’nde koruma altına alınan anıt, zamanın Vilayet Yazı İşleri Müdürü Niyazi Tayip Bey tarafından, şehrin düşman işgalinden kurtuluşunun ve Ulu Önder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’e minnettarlığını belirtmek amacıyla Hükümet Konağı’nın önündeki havuzun başına diktirilmişti.
