Şeyh Mes’ud Türbesi
This structure, which is the oldest dated one among the tombs in Şanlıurfa, is in fact a madrasa building constructed in the style of four-iwan enclosed Seljuk madrasas. In the room in the lower part of the eastern iwan is the grave of Şeyh Mesut, and his sarcophagus is also located inside the iwan. Şeyh Mesut is one of the caliphs of Hoca Ahmet Yesevi, who enabled the Islamization of Anatolia and introduced the people to the sects.

In the room in the lower part of the eastern iwan is the grave of Şeyh Mesut, and his sarcophagus is also located inside the iwan. Şeyh Mesut is one of the caliphs of Hoca Ahmet Yesevi, who enabled the Islamization of Anatolia and introduced the people to the sects. Şeyh Mes’ud was assigned to come from Nişabur to Anatolia and teach Islam to the people. He is one of the saints who served Islam in Urfa for many years. In the Arabic inscription written on the rock next to a cistern located about 100 metres west of the structure, it is written: "This cistern was carved by Mes‘ud, son of Said Hengel of Nişabur, on 10 Receb 579 (30 October 1183 AD). Whoever calls upon Allah for help, may Allah grant help and mercy to him and to all Muslims."
